So im back. Was away for awhile doing some stuff. Went to Massive Blacks' San Francisco Workshop, had my mind blown by super art people, as well as met some really awesome like minded folk.

also. got a puppy. shes good at keeping me from working, and peeing on the floor. i love her, shes awesome. her name is Jengo!

gonna try and house break that little beast, while at the same time trying to get some work done. gonna be a slow month though, but oh well, its fucking christmas time!...ugh, i cant even get away with that excuse, fuck christmas, i gotta work my ass off.

Heres some junk. A comic cover piece that failed... Gonna try and do some covers for the portfolio. This was a quick and unthought out one. Might go back to it, might not. But i definitely want to work on this type of stuff. Might help me land a shot at doing some paintings for a publisher or two down the road.

And i am also taking a CGMW master class online course too. Started 2 weeks again, James Paick is the instructor. Hes the guy to learn environments from i tells ya. My backgrounds are real shit so im hoping ill learn a thing or two from this course. so far we have only done grey scale sketches. Heres mine, kinda bleh. lots of problems, but learnin.

San Francisco is happening soon too! will be there for a week to get a bit of a vacation out of it. stoked!

so this is it! a new chapter has started in my life. even though it still feels like this is just a vacation and that in a week or so ill be going back to work, ive already got the ball rolling on my efforts to nail out a respectable portfolio.

got myself all situated at home in my dads old office. converted it into a studio for me to work in, and i couldnt be cozier! feels great workin here.

i've also got my next couple months planned out, but im sure ill change somethings as i go. point is, im keepin myself busy. the worst thing that could happen in a situation like the one im in, is losing ones self discipline. and if any of you know me well enough; once i start something that ive got my sights on, i dont stop till ive crossed that finish line.

anyways, i couldnt be happier. theres more to come!

Ive decided to take a year off andhammer out some portfolio stuff till its in decent enough shape to land me some solid freelance or a stellar gig in the gaming industry.

thats it. thats what im doing.

if you ask me how i feel, id say scared, but fuckin stoked! and i also feel pretty damn happy!

anyways ill keep the paintings comin, time to raise my game brah.

again, most of these are unfinished simply because i run out of time or gas on these. been getting a lot of comments lately on how my stuff " isnt finished" and my answer is " it never was supposed to be" because they're studies.

If you scroll back a few pages to say this time last year, youll see that my photoshop skills arnt anything to write home about.... i am still learning... so thats why i dont try to jump for the goal for every sketch. i find once ive reached a point in the sketch that satisfies my internal artistic objective, i find it pointless to finish the sketch. Now if its a good sketch ill finish it of course, but most of them are out to simply find a better understanding of something rather than paint up a finish polished piece. that make sense?

but really.. this was meant for a contest.. but i read the instructions to late hahah... its the silent hill contest they have goin on facebook. i only just now read that the drawing was supposed to be a statue.. before finding this out, i had already drawn a bad ass monster thinkin thats what the contest was... oh well..

Its been awhile, some pretty bad things have been happening to me in my personal life.My father passed away on dec 17th. So because i had to be with family and away from work and drawing, i feel like ive gotten a bit rusty. but of course, priorities, i was needed else where.

i gave myself some time off, to help cope, even though, just like when my mother passed away 2 years ago, its something that you'll never really be able to cope with or ever "get over". so i decided to go back to work 2 months later.

I dont feel much like getting into this right now, but what i will tell you guys is that im drawing again. and thats the whole point of this blog. to search for artistic answers. lifes a different pony ride. ima get back on this stallion of art and hold onto some reigns that im familiar with.
